18th Century Map of the Maldives and Maluka Islands

This unusual 18th century map depicts both the Maldives which are in the Indian Ocean and the Maluka Islands which are west of New Guinea, and north of Timor, near to Indonesia.

Produced by the eighteenth century French mapmaker Nicolas Bellin this map and old sea chart depicts all the Islands of Maluka (also known as Moluccas or Spice Islands) and the archipelago which forms the Maldive Islands. These maps which were printed circa 1753 on one sheet are often separated for selling purposes.
